Alexander Hudilainen, Head of Karelia, visited the oldest university of the republic.

04.10.2012

Alexander Hudilainen met professors and student of KSPA on Teacher day’s eve.
This was the first time he visited the Academy. The visit started by a meeting with Sergey Grippa, the Rector.
The Governor discussed issues of training teachers with the Rector and Irina Kuvshinova, Minister of Education
In the beginning of his meeting with students the Governor gave a brief outlook on the situation in the Republic, on prospects of development and promised to discuss with them a concept of social and economic development of the region till 2017.
Students asked the Governor’s opinion on the future of teacher’s profession and Russian schools.
Alexander Hudilainen replied that the trend of development set by the Government and the President is the right one. Today the prestige of teacher’s profession is rising to the point where it should be. Educators are people work for the future of our country. In 10, 20 years’ time, current students will be teaching those who will provide basis for the future. Educators have always been the elite, the most respected people of any society and this attitude should remain the same.
The Governor also answered a question raised by Oksana Bazyleva, 4th -year student of the Department of Physics and Math, considering taxation in Russia. He pointed out that this was a burning issue and mentioned that he touched upon it in his thesis and knows how important it is for our country and economic development.
After meeting active students the Governor participated in the ceremony of awarding grants to young teachers who worked in rural schools in 2011-2012. This year 33 teachers, 3 kindergarten teachers and 1 teacher-psychologist from 13 districts of Karelia received 20 thousand rubles of compensation.
Grants that are being given from 2001 support educators and help to resolve a problem of employment of rural schools and other educational institutions. In the past 12 years this measure helped involve more than 550 graduates of pedagogical educational institutions in working in rural areas.
Alexander Hudilainen is quoted as saying that today republican administration is looking for ways to help out young professionals. In particular, it is proposed to work out a program of helping them to find accommodation with the help from the republican budget. The financing will be budgeted next year. Karelia is now among 19 regions that concluded agreement on subsidizing a part of mortgages from the federal budget. For the moment 190 young educators expressed their willingness to buy and build apartments with subsidies on the mortgage from the Government.
Alexander Hudilainen is quoted as saying these measures will allow us attracting more educators to rural area, raise the prestige of being an educator and attract talented young people to education.
