February, 10 science conference took place in the Department of History and Philology of KSPA. The conference was devoted to the 90th Anniversary of one of the eldest and prominent philologists of Karelia, Professor Vladimir Krylov.
Prof. Krylov has been working in KSPA for over 40 years; he gave lectures on Russian Literature of XX century, held the post of the Head of the Chair of Literature. He wrote a number of books on Leonid Leonov works, articles on problems of the Russian literature development, several textbooks for university and school students. He also started, drafted, wrote and edited several thematic interuniversity digests. He participated in writing articles on Leonid Leonov works in Leningrad and Moscow, and wrote memoires about his part in World War II.
Regardless that Vladimir Krylov retired in 2009 he has not stopped working. His report devoted to early works of Leonid Leonov based on latest research became the highlight of the conference.
Krylov’s colleagues, advocates and students presented their own reports. There were reports presented by I.Turikov, T.Ivanova (KSPA), Prof. I.Spiridonova (PetrSU), A.Luchagin. Presentations revealed new facts of literature history and reflections on current problems of contemporary literature. During the conference many greeted to Prof. Krylov and a movie about his life directed by Oleg Chupin was shown. Head of the Chair of Literature, Professor A.Pigin gave an opening speech.
Conference devoted to Professor Krylov became an important event in scientific community of Petrozavodsk and Karelia. Conference materials are to be published in February issue of “Scientific notes of Petrozavodsk University”.
