Victory in Tatry

KSPA folk dance group Karelian Souvenir was awarded the Gran prix at III International festival-competition of children and youth art “Winter fairy-tale in Tatry”. As a rule on festivals like this, where young people compete in singing, art, drama and choreography, the prize goes to singers. But this time it was different.
January, 11 the Head of department of work with students of KSPA Oksana Bychkova and her associate Anastasia Mudrova welcomed the group at Petrozavodsk train station. The Head of the group Galina Kagacheva, who is also senior professor of Chair of IT told us that the Festival was organized within the framework of Fireworks of Talents project. The group presented Veps dance with spoons and a Finnish dance called the Carousel. Not only did the folk group win in their nomination, but it was also awarded as the best group of the Festival.
Karelian Souvenir performed the best dances of those that it has prepared during its more than 50 year-long history of existence.
Having been awarded with the Grand Prix in Zakopane, Poland, the Karelian Souvenir made its way to super-finale which will take place in the end of 2012 in Moscow. Besides participating in a here-day competition, the group also went sightseeing around Zacopane, which is a well-known resort in Poland.
