Winner from Saint-Petersburg was awarded a Karelian kantele

Karelian State Pedagogical Academy acted as a partner in international competition – the first Russian sled dog race for medium distance.
The competition took place in Pryazhinsky district January, 21-22. Pacers from Karelia, Moscow, Saint-Petersburg, Stavropol, Chukotka, Kostromskaya, Tverskaya oblast and other regions. A Russian polar explorer Victor Boyarsky and a famous traveler Fedor Konuchov were the honorary guests of the competition.
There were two disciplines of the competition: Ski-goring and dog-drivers in sleds of 6 and 8 dogs.
The prize from the Karelian State Pedagogical Academy was brought by the Rector Sergey Grippa, it was a Karelian kantele. Alexander Eduardov from Saint-Petersburg won the prize, he was the best in ski-goring competition.
It is not a coincidence that a kantele was chosen as a prize, because the name of the competition was “By the ground of Sampo”. And students of the Department of Technology and Entrepreneurship have a special course devoted to making of a traditional Karelian and Finnish musical instrument, which is kantele.
Rector of KSPA Sergey Grippa and one of the competitions organizers Victor Simonov, who is an alumnus of the Academy announced that co-operation between the Academy and organizers of international sled dog race will continue. How this co-operation will be developed will become clear in the future.
